This is pure genius, Asia! š¤ I do love to go back through my dream journals to see what I had dreamt on this day last year (or 5 years ago, or whatever year strikes me) and, as you said, there's always a relevant thread. For some reason, I had never thought to consult any other journals this. And to do a random oracle type draw with them is amazing! Thank you so much for this insight!
oh the synchronicities. I loved this, as I was just a finishing up a substack piece for which I pulled out a journal entry from 2021. What a beautiful thing to do.
This is incredibly beautiful and I love the idea of using your journals as an oracle and a thread back to yourself ā it makes perfect sense and is total magic. I just started writing a post about my experience of journaling in the early days of motherhood ā I found it really challenging to find the words to express the enormity of my feelings and am only just returning to it now 3.5 years later. The fragments of my early mothering journey are recorded in voice to myself and others. I did find one passage I wrote as my daughter turned 3 months old which is what led me to start writing, the words have a touch of innocence and naivety despite my world being upturned upside down. Itās something I am enjoying unpicking!
How beautiful Lyndsay. I felt so similar in the early months. How does one capture in words the enormity of the experience? And yet, with time, I always look back on the attempt with so much awe and care. I know one day I'll look back on what I'm writing now with similar feelings... Much love to you!
Thank you Asia. Yes exactly that, it feels impossible in those early days/weeks/months/years (!) and the fact that I felt I couldnāt write for so long makes it an overwhelming task. But yes recording the everyday things now, Iām sure we will look back on with lots of fondness and love in years to come xx
This is great. I'd never actually heard the expression oracle deck before. I do dip into my journals from time to time but this sounds more elegant. That said, the way I experience life feels like one big oracle deck at times.
Love this so much Asia. Beautifully written! I Read my journals all the time and it helps to understand my inner seasons as I can look back at things retrospectively through a different lens.
Thereās so much wisdom in the words we thought at the time have no bigger meaning or importance but actually they are so wise.
